Hanging gourd lamp with incrustatations of multiple marbles and blown glass. Approximately 7.8 diameter. Six foot UL approved cord and 25 watt bulb included. Limited availability due to seasonality of raw material. Jellyfish lamps are Eco Friendly and are made from all natural materials.. . The Jellyfish lamps are light shades made out of natural materials from the region of the Yucatan peninsula. Regional gourds (Langerina Sicecaria) and local jicaras(Crescentia cujete) are combined with seeds, shells and other natural materials to make beatiful lamps. The designs are inspired by the local nature and combined with the colored hand-blown glass and stainglass that reflect the designs and colors on the wall remind you of those warm amazing days you spent in the magical city of Playa del Carmen.. The lamps are made locally by Mayan artisans trained by the founders of Jellyfish. It takes 4 years of training to become a Master Crafter and be able to make incrustations of stainglass. They start from the bottom by making the hanging parts. They drill the seeds and the shells and make the strings that hang from the bottom from there they see in which area they want to specialize and have more aptitude for.They can be Master Crafter and drill and make glass incrustations specialize in barnishing and finishing or be a designer. There is one workshop in Playa del Carmen and other three in the nearby Mayan villages.
